Wake & Funeral Dress Code 🕊 


In Loving Memory of Vovó ❤️ 

 

To honor the life and legacy of our beloved Vovó, we kindly ask that all attendees follow the 

dress code below for both the Wake and Funeral Service. Your respectful presence and attire 

are a reflection of the love and reverence we share as a family. 🙏 

 

Cape Verdean Funeral Culture Attire 󰎭 


Respectful – Modest – Traditional – Neutral in Tone 🖤 


Men: 

●​Dark-colored suits (Black, Navy, or Charcoal) 󰵅 

●​Dress shirts (White or light-colored) 👔 

●​Ties (solid or minimal pattern) 🎗 

●​Dress shoes 👞​

Avoid: Sneakers, shorts, T-shirts, or casual wear. 🚫 


Women: 

●​Black or dark-colored dresses, skirts, or dress pants 👗 

●​Blouses that are modest (no low cuts or flashy designs) 👚 

●​Closed-toe shoes or respectful flats/heels 👠 

●​Simple, minimal jewelry 💎​

Avoid: Bright colors, patterns, or overly casual clothing. 🚫 


Children, Grandchildren & Great-Grandchildren: 👼

As a tribute to Vovó’s deep love for children and her favorite colors, the following is encouraged: 

●​White clothing, symbolizing the little angels of God 🤍 

●​Accent colors in Blue or Green (such as bows, ties, scarves, sashes, shoes, etc.) 💙💚 

This dress honors her joyful spirit, her nurturing soul, and her life surrounded by love. 🥰 


 

Recommended Items: 

●​Light jackets or overcoats (for outdoor or cemetery service) 🧥 

●​Umbrellas if needed ☔ 

●​Sunglasses for sun protection during graveside portion 🕶 

 

Please Avoid: 

●​Bright/neon colors (except permitted blue/green accents for family) 🚫🌈 

●​Jeans, shorts, graphic T-shirts, or athletic wear 👖👕👟 

●​Loud prints, logos, or slogans 🔇 

●​Baseball caps (unless for cultural or religious reasons) 🧢
